Filling

Xenon lamps from LTI are filled with 99.99% pure xenon gas. In order to ensure high performance and long lamp life, the gas must meet stringent purity standards, and thus must contain virtually no impurities. Xenon delivers the important advantage of producing an essentially continuous spectrum of visible light at 6000 degrees K.

Xenon lamps are filled to a positive pressure between 4 and 10 atmospheres; this pressure rises dramatically during operation due to the increase in lamp temperature.
